Are there any other categories between the polarities Predators and Pray? Let's ask Nature... There's Scavengers perhaps? Anything else? Of course I misspelled "prey" because what are the odds of Prey & Pray not being interchangable? I doubt these words have drastically different meanings? Nah, I call a Spell. Hidden meanings. Again, the jokes are on us- those with eyes that cant see. If you knew what I knew about the historical origins of our post-modern religious practices then the answer is clear:
To pray is to pray the Predators of this world dont make us their prey. In God we pray for protection from the Predators that have rendered us prey, Sheep. Pray is the passive form of prey... Okay, I took poetic liscence with the passive form statement, lol. What I mean is to pray is to make oneself prey because it means to surrender a portion of power at the threat of a Predator... to pray for help. And so I ask, When do we become Predators? Or remember our predatory instincts?
"No church in the wild." Hip-Hop has been dropping hints. And we love it when they boast and brag about their predatory precision- we exercise to it, twerk team bounce to it. Then we pray to be delivered from the heartless subjects of it. Its madness. Perhaps we can have it both ways, but has it been sustainable? Nah.
The whole of society have been/are being consistently and systematically domesticated. And for generations we've been conditioned as such. Women laboring for the well-being of our families within our homes are even labeld domestics- which is not a complimentary term. Wild animals are domesticated- transformed from predators into prey... beasts of burden that 'pray' for protection. Cows, goats, broken horses... flightless hens at the mercy of the wolves in the woods.
We turn our noses up at the unpolished Predators, those in the Streets - we say we will pray for them. Oblivious of Priests, Orders, Authorities, Principalities and trained Predators that make & enforce the realities in which we operate. We complain and call names, suck our teeth and pray. Or we resolve to become predators of our own. We turn against those closest to us. Sharpening our teeth to prey on our neighbors and community members- at worse we hustle them out of a couple thousand dollars. And because we are lone wolves and not a strategically united pack of lions... hell hyenas... we still remain prey to those more organized and unburdened by the taste of the innocent's blood.
This post was inspired by a comment Sis made to a Netflix show about kidnappers. She said it would be good to watch as a tool into the mind of a predator. Which made me wonder who amoung us has retained our sense of smell? As humans we are at the top of the food chain. Thus by nature we are the ultimate, intelligent predators right? And if we are by nature but will no longer access these inheirant abilities, then what has changed? Why did we stop training our children to trust their instincts? And when did we stop eating our steaks medium-rare? Lol. Im just saying.
Stay wild my friends.
