I woke-up resolved to be Anti today. I reached for one of my favorite long, kaleidoscope black slim-fitting Gypsy skirts and my black, cotton stretchy long-sleeve blouse. Black on Black. Sexy, yet rebellious. Fuck St. Valentines. And fuck the Catholic church too. Dont pardon my french.
As I pulled my Ombre grey, waist-long Havana-twists into a high bun I began thinking about how I could access today's energy. If I went with my Anti attitude I would block the flow of flirtatious desire my co-workers would be oozing throughout the day in anticipation of their evening plans. If I held strong with my black-on-black theme then I would be rejecting the subtle energies being displayed as affection and love. And that wasnt my intentions. My issues are with St. Valentine's and the commodification of today. Not so much the sentimentality. I embrace love- in all its forms. And I most certainly want to yoke myself to the happy feelings in the air.
So I modifed my attitude. I changed clothes. I switched out my black blouse for a red one. Added a pair of lace-up wedge heels. A thick black leather braided belt to accentuate my small waistline and compliment my curvy silhouette. Metallic hoop earrings. A delicate necklace. Welcomed the likeness of the daughter of Venus. And just like that my mood was altered.
Bring on the escapades of Valentine's Day.
Bring on the dark chocolate and rose-scented candles. Bring on the pleasures of the night. Pleasures... Valentine's Day is less about Love and more about pleasure and desire. Tis the season. The Earth is warming and in a few days her beasts will begin to find their mates. Valentine's Day is a day of atonement.. Or attuning. The emphasis on the color red speaks to our 'Roots'- our primal instincts. Red blood. Red lipstick- shades of pink. Flesh tones of sexual organs- hers & his. Colors of nakedness. Reminding us- We should be lusting... Sexing and procreating. Yum.
And just as I want to harness the energy being emitted into the ethers via emotional and financial currency, soaking up the attraction and magnetism- redirecting it to fuel my own passions- the Catholic Church has also been siphoning off our lusts. Has been for centuries. Holy High Priests created Valentine's Day by merging the martyred (pedophile) idol, Saint Valentine of Rome with the mythology of the Roman fertility God, Cupid. Its no coincidence the set date is February 14. (See above Divination.) Fast-forward several hundred years of cyclical sanctioned observances to the present day. Now commercial industry is voluntarily brought into our bedrooms and backseats with their candy, their flowers, their greeting cards, their expensive dinner dates, their ribbed condoms... lol.
Thus here I am. Slightly aroused by today's promise of passionate sensory stimulation. People watching... Camouflaged in the colors of the day and open to receive.
Bring it on.
