"Reunited and it feels so good!" If you've been following 'K Boogie' then you know last year, this time I hosted a segment on Conscious Mindset Radio called "K Boogie's Corner." One year ago, myself and my Brothers from the show were interviewing Dr. Umar Johnson for his upcoming lecture. Time flies.
Last night I returned to the show to introduce their audience to the 2 Sisters helping to provide school supplies to families in need. Economic Vulnerability is a reality for many families in Freedmen Town due to disenfranchisement. As surely as Im in a position to contribute to the Legacy of Freedmen Town; a school Supply Drive felt natural. To add the education component, part of the 'requirement' for receiving the supplies is a guided Tour of the neighborhood. Tragically (and suspiciously) the history of Freedmen Town, HTX was/is not part of State-mandated History or Social Studies lessons. So, unless children's families pass the oral history, then its highly likely they don't know about the Greatness at their feet. So, Sister Priscilla will provide tours for children and parents. Also, Sister Charonda is throwing a party for the Community Center members. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with these women for such a timely cause. ((Smily Face!))
Listen to the show to hear us talk about the disrespects of the Houston School Board Administration and the disparities in their system. We also build on solutions. Which is the point of all if this. Lets live solution-based lives. Selah.
